What are the main points here? GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES. BAPTISE THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT. TEACH THEM TO OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE TOUGHT YOU

We need to concentrate our attention on these verses to get the full impact on what is meant. Note the command-Go and make disciples! Why did he not say- Go and make Christians or Go and make believers?  It must be because a disciple is, as the word suggests, disciplined. The disciples were taught discipline. He didn't just fill them with knowledge, they were not just listeners like the majority of church congregations. He taught them to teach others, to pass on the good news of the gospel. That is what making a disciple is all about. And every disciple should be baptised in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. It is a command that applies to all who call themselves born again Christians.
Make disciples - baptise them - teach them every¬thing you have been taught. A continuous process. Disciples making disciples making disciples. You know Christianity today bears no resemblance to first centuary Christianity. Many call themselves evangelical when the best they can do, on very special occasions, is to push a few invitations through letter boxes, to come to the church.
I belonged to a free church for about ten years. In all that time there was never more than about six who had the courage to go house to house witness¬ing about Jesus Christ. This was out of a possible 200 adults. Even the Paster did not go, and of course he didn't raise the subject in his sermons.
This is a sad state of affairs and a denial of the importance of the gospel message.  The Apostle Paul said: " Woe is me if I do not preach the gospel. ( 1 Co 9:16 )  He also gave this instr¬uction to his understudy, Timothy : " Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; corr¬ect, rebuke and encourage, with great patience and careful instruction. ( 2 Tim 4:1-5 )
Remember it is making disciples that God wants. He is not interested in people who think that listening to sermons is going to get them to heaven. He is not satisfied with these jubilant hym singers no matter how good they sound. And he is bored with listening to prayers where the doing of his will is ignored.
Here are a few short, sharp verses on obedience by Jesus and the Apostles" " If you love me you will obey what I command,  ( John 14:15) There is no salvation for those who do not love God and Jesus Christ.
"Blessed are those who hear God's Word and obey it. ( Lk 11:28 ) Likewise, no blessing for those who dont." We must obey God rather than men. ( Acts 5:29 ) If man's laws clash with God's laws we obey God." This is love for God to obey his commands. ( 1 John 5:3 ) Could anything be clearer? The Holy Spirit...God has given...to those who obey him. (  Acts 5:32 )
